  • Hey nice design man, is it a 30 gallon capacity? Im looking to design a grill/smoker combo in the same package with old oil drums. Only problem is i dont really know any good resources to find used ones. Ive done some google searching on the net but only found like UN chemical grade drums that cost a shit load of money haha.

  • @PeculiarTactics I used 55 gallon molasses drums. Food grade drums are a much better way to go than drums from petroleum based products. You can get them from Vogelzang, but they are a bit pricey. Try contacting some food manufacturers in your area to see if you can stag a used food drum. It'll be cheaper and safer!

  • @jacobe7 Thanks for the advice, the design i have in mind consists of 3 drums in total. The primary heating action in my design comes from steam, so i was also curious as to what PSI a food drum could handle? I plan on implementing an emergency release valve which is always a good thing to do when working with pressurized steam. The steam chamber i have in mind is going to be a small capacity, so im gonna add a water feeding system as well.
