From the first day of 1970 through the last day of 1974, here is the first half of this decade's No. 1 hits in the USA, according to Billboard.

To travel through all three decades in order ('50s, '60s, '70s), click the "Video Response" link on each page.

Billboard Magazine's archives may not include every issue, but can still be very useful: http://www.billboard.com/#/archive
Cash Box Magazine's archives provide every weekly chart for the period covered: http://cashboxmagazine.com/archives.htm

The slide show is some of the top stars of that decade, in alphabetical order (not intended to match up with the audio track).

  • @verycoolsound Thanks so much! I've been trying to figure that out for sooooo long.

  • @Brewski526 I've noticed that's a common affliction. No one under 25 seems to realize that the world existed before they did.

  • These young folks don't really know when then song was first written or played. They think it was a hit of their times only! hehe
