Was Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich The South Carolina Debate Winner ?

I believe Newt Gingrich is showing some masterful skills when under fire. Ron Paul is clearly winning the social media wars. He is the King of Twitter & Facebook. Newt Gingrich "I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that," he told CNN's John King. Condemning the "destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media," he repeated: "I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate".

"Every person in here knows personal pain. Every person in here has had someone close to them go through painful things," he continued. "To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question for a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine."

Mr Gingrich eventually stated that "the story is false" but claimed "the elite media" was more interested in "protecting Barack Obama" than allowing Republicans to explain themselves — a line that drew more wild applause.

Having been 10 percentage points behind Mr Romney at the start of the week in South Carolina, Mr Gingrich now leads him by one point, according to an aggregate of polls by RealClearPolitics.

One new survey on Friday night put him six points ahead.

Mr Romney on Friday played down hopes that he would wrap the contest up early.

So Ron Paul is principled and has a great message and great ideas, but Newt is vicious and effective in debates, so you'll go with Newt cause you witnessed "the power of Newt Gingrich"... wow. You want someone "vicious" as president?! Are you a masochist?

@BetterThanToast I would vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat. I believe Gingrich would wipe the floor with Obama in a debate. The Republican party wants to be in power no matter the cost. Ron Paul is not part of their plans. I pray Ron Paul runs as a independent after the Republican chooses Mitt or Newt.

Speaking ability does help, but solid policies with solid solutions is by far more important. This is where Ron Paul wins leaps and bounds. Please don't get caught up so much in the person, but in the message they present.

You are right, a normal human being with feelings would probably have caved a bit, he is the best debater among them for sure. Newt is slippery and fast on his feet, just like Obama. That said, his record says he's a con artist that says anything, then goes for his personal gain. If that is the type of man you want for president, you will get Obama 2.0. RP is the only candidate not in the pocket of big money, so there is no other choice. The people will back him and he'd boot Obama.

And last...I believe the whole setup has always been to get Obama a second term...And thats exactly whats gonna happen regardless who wins the nomination. Plus...The question CNN gave Ginrich to open was all part of the plan and scripted. They set it up to make him a hero. It is obvious they look at any candidate before Paul. They show the truth by the way you always see Ron missing from any discussion when they talk about whos ahead.
