This is the poem, Before Mind, from one of my 9 published books, "Not Just Anything" (published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers 2004). It's put to a slideshow of my artworks and the music from one of my songs, There's a Bridge, which is played here by my lovely friend, David Moscoe. I hope it is enjoyed by those with and those without autism, as it reflects things like alienation, personal space and self acceptance, which can be a challenge to any of us. Thanks for visiting.

Warmly, Donna Williams

  • There's a Bridge and Not Just Anything are poems in the book Not Just Anything, so is the poem The System of Sensing.

Yes, there is a song by Donna and The Aspinauts called Room With A View which encorporates part of the poem of Not Just Anything - good catch. Ah, we can tell whose been to our gigs.

  • I love this poem... i feel its one i can relate to a lot, especially the part that says "the picture never seen in whose colours i swam and felt belonging"

"There's a Bridge" doesn't ring a bell for me... but "Not Just Anything" is an Aspinauts song, right? I assume its a poem you initially wrote for the book? =)

  • That was beautiful!

  • Beautifully mesmerizing thoughts, colors and shapes intertwining with your music...I never cease to be amazed by what you share here..I will come back to this over and over...Thank you Donna...I send hugs across the miles..
