Seiji Ozawa conducts the berlin philharmonic in arguably Tchaikovsky's most famous piece - the 1812 Overture.

The Year 1812, Festival Overture in E flat major, Op. 49, popularly known as the 1812 Overture or the Overture of 1812 is an overture written by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1880 to commemorate Russia's defense of Moscow against Napoleon's advancing Grande Armée at the Battle of Borodino in 1812.

  • did they composed for Risk 2 video game?

  • Эта лучшая интерпретация, которую я слышал!!!!!

  • @Strefanasha, being a potboiler does not preclude a piece of work from being good. While potboiler's generally suck because of their nature, there is no reason they can't be great pieces of art.

  • actually i recall reading somewhere that Tchaikovsky disliked this work and thought it was a mere potboiler.

    he was wrong of course

  • I'm going to that very concert this year with the same piece, in the summer, I cannot wait.

  • Simply Amazing

  • I think at the end Ozawa comments to the first violinist about the extended bell sequence which went on a bit too long at one point. Still, absolutely electrifying performance. Thank you for uploading!

  • Tchaikovsky would be proud. (In a gruff voice) *HEHEHEHEHE, NO DISLIKES!*

  • Finally!!!!!!
