http://www.metrojacksonville.com JTA's (Jacksonville, FL) bus rapid transit plan will cost taxpayers nearly $1 Billion for a system of buses that is not expected to be completed until 2025. At 29 miles, the plan will cost a whopping $36 million per mile. Comparable cities are building commuter rail systems for $2 - $5 million per mile.

  • Research?? dude your an idiot. The research has been done. Jax definitely needs a train system, plus extensions for the Skyway.

  • boo hoo cry me a river a cities fleet of 300 buses compared to millions of cars in a city and your worried about exaust? Please f of Most of Jacksonvilles buses run on Clean burning Diesel you need to do more research and quit complaining.

  • Just take a look at the Portland Streetcar for a way of handling Jacksonville's downtown needs along with the "S" right of way.

The Portland Streetcar passes within feet of dining tables at several places along the route for comfortable dining with out the noise and pollution of busses.
