@jsharp1701 Part of the point of The Matrix Trilogy, I think, is that it is such a complex melange of Christian, Gnostic, Buddhist, Hindu, Platonic, psychological, a comparative mythological ideas. It is necessarily a multiculturalist movie (just look at the racial make-up of Zion). One of the things I think kinda' throws off Fr. Barron's analysis is that The Matrix and the machines aren't evil. Even Agent Smith isn't evil per se.
Dear Father Barron, first- thanks for your amazing Mission here on youtube, for your awesome insights over the years, and for your sacrifices, as a Catholic Priest, which most here will never understand. I hope you do know the depths of it's reach, which I know is the reason for it's existence. Please to tell- did the makers of this movie indeed for such a match to Jesus’ life? Thank you, Pete D.---
@metal87power He has stated more than once that The Matrix is not a Christian film and that Neo is not a one-to-one representation of Christ. If anything, it is an amalgam of Christian and Buddhist paradigms. However, the movie IS an absolute treasure trove of types and outright analogies. He's simply pointing out the Christian ones. Perhaps there are Buddhists who've posted similar interpretations from their perspective. And the sex scene? Part 2, not 3. But the sequels are a muddled mess.
