Wow, the fluidity of all the stuff you've shown is amazing! It's good to see this project at the state it's in, as it gives me hope for when I'm going to try and take a similar path.

Thats unfortunate. However, I think it looks great like this. You wouldnt want to over do it and make it look Super Special anyway... I think this matches the quality of all the other effects. Looks like an advanced Super Metroid so far!

Wave and PB weapons in Metroid go through matter selectively, so it wouldn't affect the water.

It looks nice but a bit slow, and maybe there should be a quick "fadeout to white" every time a bomb explodes.

It's slow by necessity, because it has to draw to a buffer layer then copy to screen (exactly half frame rate). Check the thread on the forum, this has already been covered in depth. The consensus was that it's worth it since SM also slows down during PB.
