its pretty sad that you think UNC cheated....no analyst thought Illinois would win the tourny...UNC had better players head-to-head at every every position...yes including point guard felton > d williams...an argument could be made for now in the NBA but UNC was the better team easily and the best team throughout the year...Illinois was the result of a weak schedule and a weak conference....

The Big ten was not "down" in that 04-05 season, In fact we had 3 teams in the elite 8. Granted UNC beat all three of them, but to just say the reason Illinois had such a good record was because of a down Big 10 is just flat out wrong.

the 2009 is a top 25 recruiting class and the '10 is the number 2 recruting class

no team that gets to the national championship is the result of a weak schedule and conference, hell no team that finishes 37-2 is the result of a weak conference unc may have been better but they still only won by 5 that illinois team was a legit team and ur on something worse then crystal meth if u think that felton is better or more talented than williams. and what bout that jawad williams guy on the starting lineup for that UNC team, i dont see him on any nba rosters?

Illinois basketball -- ZERO championships. That's about all you need to know. Listening to the dumb Illini jockers here you'd think the 2005 team was the greatest in college basketball history, but they couldn't even win a title! That team is in the dustbin of history to all except historical revisionists (Illini fans) and irritated Arizona fans who rightly point out that they were screwed by extremely poor refereeing.

You must not watch much basketball then. Not only was the 05 Heels better but the 09 team was a well oiled machine that would have ran illinois out of the gym. 05 Heels over 05 illinois, Carolina Basketball over illinois basketball, Roy Williams over Weber, and the list goes on and on and on.

It's been over five years get over it and move on.

@tfarrell02 look who just embarrassed themselves. deron wasnt 1st team all american. d. brown was. according to the AP, felton and deron were both 3rd team all american. felton was the 5th pick in the draft. they both put up 17 pts, 7 assists in the championship game. deron also shot 3-10 from 3 even with the absurd amount of moving screens. felton was 4-5 so lets see, both were all-americans and lottery picks. oh yeah, who has the ring? who made the clutch steal and free throws to seal the win?

It's pretty sad that ole COX is such a tool. And the big ten was definately not down... 4 out of the five major players went to the NBA... That is including james augustine, and they all play professionally and are not in jail. Even if it's pro ball in europe. God damnit that was a great year! Someone commented that now we're relying on Mike Davis and that made me laugh..
