KCCD is pleased to invite you to join us in celebrating our 10th Anniversary and our 2011 National Lighting the Community Conference! The conference will provide two days of training covering vital issues in the Korean American community, as well as funding and networking opportunities. In previous years, over 250 participants representing 13 states attended. Some previous speakers include Secretary Elaine Chao of U.S. Department of Labor, Jim Towey of the White House Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives, Luis Cortes of Nueva Esperanza, and Jim Wallis of Sojourners and Call to Renewal.

The conference provides opportunities for faith-based organizations and nonprofits to learn how to access funding opportunities, build successful partnerships with various stakeholders, and better implement their programs and services for the community so that churches can serve as a "light of the world." The conference also provides opportunities for faith and community leaders to meet and network with funders, elected officials, government agencies and other important stakeholders. At the same time, the conference provides an opportunity to highlight great models and resources in the Korean/Asian American community and at the same time advocate for issues that impact the Korean/Asian American community.

The mission of KCCD is to assist the churches & other faith-based organizations in looking beyond the church walls to provide programs and assist those in need in their communities. Hence this conference will bring together policy makers, elected officials, funders, Asian American pastors, community leaders, and others committed to community development in order to collaborate with the Korean American church community in providing and expanding services to be a light in the community.
