  • @Todaylight Do you have a 50mm F1.4 from another brand that is sharp at f1.4 in the conditions you used the Sony? I use mine for photography on both crop a77/a580 and full frame a850. I'm a portraitist and prefer stopping it down to F1.7 - 2 for best results but it's totally usable at f1.4. I went to BH to compare it to the famous Sigma 50mm F1.4 and clearly saw no difference in both wide open and stopped down. Nailing focus with such glass is a challenge. Sony could improve the build for sure

  • @igogosh sorry it is no sharp when full open!

  • @igogosh recording video will crop corners, my mistake

  • @titaniumslug In video mode....what?:) I just got it yesterday. It's mixed feelings so far:) The thing is loaded with features and makes your head spin:) What's your question?

  • @igogosh in video mode? Do you have the camera?

  • When you mount a new lens on any Alpha body it will bring the AF to infinity - hence the sound (the AF motor). But it's nothing annoying on newer SSM lenses.

  • i have that Sony 50mm F1.4, it is a bit plasticy but it has metal mount and inside components and is very sharp even wide open. A850 and a77 allow for micro focus adjust and the thing nails focus spot on every time. Good news is that a Carl Zeiss AF version is rumored to be released next year.

  • @titaniumslug sony has sensor stabilization in alpha mount and it doesn't crop the image.

  • hey,

how easy is changing the settings (shutter, aperature, ios) while recording or is it even possible? i know canons are easy to change but hows the sony?

  • Hi Dave,

What's the audio extension cord you use? Any link?

Perhaps you could do a review on the Sony VG-20??
