Bit late, but concerning this hate-fest going on here: 1.8T start @ ~168BHP. Say this is in a Mk4 Passat wagon, which comes to ~3,300lbs. On the Subaru side a '91 Legacy 2.2 N/A is ~135BHP and 3,300 lbs too. With drivetrain losses of about 15% for the VW and 20% at least for the AWD Subaru we're at ~142WHP and 108WHP respectively. Even with AWD and the higher torque its doubtful that Subby would beat a 1.8t VW.
That said, STIs smoke modern GTIs, and Subbys are WRC gods. Don't hate, people.

just baught me a turbo for my Mk2. got a 1.8t turbo, downpipe, intercooler, and a ported 1.8 head. just curious as to how much a 1.8t eo turbo can run as far as boost

In addition to what you said. Volkswagen is actually the largest car company in the world right now. They own big named manufactures such as Audi, Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda and many many more.
You're a moron, it's a german car. And german car CONSISTENTLY out perform sloppy American trash cars. You don't see Volkswagen accepting bail-out money. Probably because they are succeeding more and more while the American market continues to fail at producing vehicles that people actually want to drive. Get a life you fucking cowboy redneck. Why don't you get off your lazy ass and take a fucking college class or something?!
