    i thought they meant that because they play on the same side of the field....(left end and sometimes the linebackers are managed by sides and not the opponents position...so it could be a left side linebacker too)

    @Keezd

    there are three linebacker position in football, Will - weak side, Mike - middle, and Sam - strong side. The reason why they say "left side, strong side" is because the tight end is on the right side of a standard "I" formation which is the right side if you look at the offense side but on the defense side it who be the left side.
