The name "Jazz Bass" is owned by Fender, and therefore any other Basses that may even be almost exactly the same aren't actually "Jazz Basses", they are "Jazz style Basses". I may sound like I am being a bit of a jerk, but the person who I was replying to seems to be arguing against blatant fact. I just wanted to let him know that "Jazz Bass" is a brand and not a type. Even if most people would call a two single coil pickup bass a "Jazz", the manufacturers are not allowed to use that name.
