Telecom veteran Arun Sarin, former CEO of Vodafone, MBA 78, MS 78 (engineering), shares his insights on leadership as part of the Dean's Speaker Series, at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. April 15, 2009

The University of California Berkeley Haas School of Business is one of the world's leading producers of new ideas and knowledge in all areas of business - which includes the distinction of having two of its faculty members receive the Nobel Prize in Economics over the past 15 years. The school offers six degree-granting programs. Its mission is to develop innovative business leaders - individuals who redefine how we do business by putting new ideas into action, and who do so responsibly. The school's distinctive culture is defined by four key principles - question the status quo; confidence without attitude; students always; and, beyond yourself.

    did you guys notice it?

  • Arun, thanks for sharing unbiased (being on a sabbatical) thoughts. This conversation started me to think..

    1. Are the large companies (MNCs) equipped to innovate and play new ways of doing business in existing & emerging markets.

    2. The traditional career options for MBAs may not exist in the following decade and they look lot more different. Good news - lot less travel for meetings, biz networking, customer acquisition. Bad news - less leverage, less paper profits, lot less gambling.
