A 'Give & Take' day in Penrith (Cumbria) to promote the Penrith & Eden District Freegle group, which encourages local residents to share unwanted items via the internet rather than throwing them away to landfill. The Penrith Freegle group has 2500 members on-line, and with around 600 posts monthly it estimates that 6 tonnes per month are prevented from otherwise going to landfill.

  • Excellent Idea! i have juast joined via your main website. I would rather give stuff away to people who have a real need for it than give it to a land fill. Our Local recycling centre does not allow you to take anything from it yet our local Primary school teaches Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

  • Thanks very much Nigel - I did get the ping pong table sorted eventually!

Thanks to Carlisle Eden Mind for use of their 'Five' premises for the day.
