I thinks its very funny how people complain about the range of electric cars.Think about this. The average person is not going to drive more than 600km in a day and with the current technology Tesla is getting just about that range. Now, imagine if huge car companies with bottomless pockets were to invest in R and D for totally electric motors and batteries instead of small companies like Tesla and backyard mechanics. the range would certainly be alot more than a gasoline powered motor.
