  • does AMPAS ask for permission from the respective studios to use their clips when posting these videos? After all, isn't this free advertising?

  • @animeeclipse unfortunately, we do not have clearance to play the movie clips.

  • What a beautiful, lovely speech.

    Unassuming, yet very profound.

Stanley Donen. A name synonymous with genius...

  • I agree, I don't remember many better acceptance speeches: it's lovely, it's funny, it's award related, and it's BIG TIME deserved. Thanks for posting it, mate, I hadn't watched it again ever since. And for a moment I thought saw Gregory Peck alive and smiling. :)

  • @AtYourBeckettAndCall So true! What a bloody legend!!! Look out for Mark Cousin's Story of Film from this year - it's on this site. He interviews Donen at length and the the guy looks and thinks like a 40 year old, plus it's the best documentary I have ever seen...

  • is that Fred Asatire jr>?

  • @AtYourBeckettAndCall amen to that, heh heh!

  • This is without a doubt the best Oscar speech ever. All Oscar winners from here on out should be required to watch this.

  • A director just has to cast his movies well, show up and stay the hell out of their actor way

  • excellent, that is what is called an acceptance speech...classy, stylish, witty and just perfect!!!

  • So richly deserved. He's a great man.

  • @Oscars Such a shame. Missing a huge opportunity here. Oh, well. Thank you for this gem of a video. :)

  • one the best acceptance speech ever
