This song has been recorded under use of several Simmons and Musicaid gear (Musicaid used to be Simmons' predecessor). The snare is a Musicaid Analog Clap Trap, the toms come from a Musicaid Simmons SDS3, the bassdrum is a Simmons SDSV tom. Blue Monday has originaaly performed by the great "New Order"

  • hey hows it going

    great video

what bass guitar / effect did you get to get that famous peter hook sound?? did you use a baratone?? cheers

  • @19karl16 Simply a Fender Jazz Bass directly played into the channel strip with some stereo chorus. Peter Hook normally plays higher notes on the bass. He plays "guitar melodies" rather than a bass fundament. I assume that's the whole trick. Thanks!

  • I know that Peter Hook used a Simmons multi-pad box on "The Perfect Kiss" , but did drummer Stephen Morris ever use Simmons drums?

  • @MrBrombomb I don't know. In this video Peter Hook uses a suitcase kit. On stage i also saw him with SDSV pads. I have't seen Stephen Morris playing any Simmons gear as well.

  • hey nice done love simmons and love new order so great combination.

i thought the bassdrum from blue monday was an 707 where it actualy simmons drums? i dont think so ;)

  • you are right. The basic rythm originally comes from some Oberheim gear I guess, but I thought somehow this track would be qualified to do make a demo. In fact New Order did use Simmons sounds on Blue Monday, but only some effect sounds triggered by Peter Hook

  • Hi Wolfgang,

if I don't check by every two days, I'm missing all the new stuff! Thanks for the video and playing stuff lby hand that was a rhythm computer in the original - probably boring for you, but very skillful! Am curious to see the next video and the next lovely piece of equipment you'll show to us all!

  • That's a really cool cover version.... thanks for sharing!

  • Super nice demo of Musicaid + Simmons! Thanks!

  • fantastic job !..authentic and very retro, right down to the combo of instruments and production ! !.

  • What's about a SDS 3 Video?

  • The yellow pads look the best. :)

Classically 80's in finest Pac-Man yellow.

  • Awesome drum session. You looked like you were in the zone jamming with simmons set. Just watching this makes me miss the 80's.

  • Hey this was nice. Well why not try recording this song Industry - State of the Nation ?

  • Sweet! I'm looking for some yellow Simmons pads. I love the way they look!
