Small sections of Pasternak's choreography and dancing. Movement Exchange is the culmination of Anna Pasternak's desire and interest to integrate her passion for dance, public service, and international exchange. She believes in, and has experienced arts education's power to connect people over a shared humanity and serve as a catalyst for empowerment, improved self-confidence and discipline. Anna received her BA from Harvard University and studied at the San Francisco School of the Arts, a public arts high school. She received her early training with Shely Pack Dancers. While at Harvard, she was the recipient of the Radcliffe/Josephine L. Murray Fellowship, the Alex G. Booth Fellowship, and the Lowe Grant for research in Argentina, Spain, and Brazil. She also studied at the Pontificia University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil under the Partnership for Leaders in Social Progress and the University of Havana, Cuba. Anna has over 15 years of dance experience and is formally trained in ballet, modern, jazz, samba, salsa, African Diaspora dances, tap, Latin/Caribbean, and flamenco. She has danced professionally on tour with a Brazilian samba company in Japan as well as for dance companies in California and Brazil. Anna was a featured young artist on National Public Television's "Spark" program and has published articles on dance in ReVista Magazine: Harvard Review of Latin America. Anna has experience working for arts and education organizations in California and Brazil, but it was her work with the NGO, Global Brigades, in the rural and indigenous regions of Panama that connected Anna to the dance community of Panama, and subsequently inspired the vision for Movement Exchange.
