OSAAT Naatya-Raaga 2008 Dance Competition
Senior Classical category
Team # 7 presents "Mallari" in Ragam: Gambira nattai. Traditionally, during the temple rituals, as the deity was brought around in a procession, the Mallari was rendered on the Nadaswaram mostly in the raga Gambira Nattai.. The syllables Ta, Dhi, Thom and Nam were interwoven in unique patterns to form a lilting melody. In recent times, the mallari has been embraced as an invocatory piece in Bharatanatyam. In harmony with the music and rhythm, the dancers will execute intricate patterns and various formations in this presentation of the Mallari.
