i agree that modern bibles are revised and that the catholic and niv bibles are from latin mainly, not greek and hebrew, but the king james version translation is only from greek and hebrew and a couple of verses in aramaic.where there is slight difference in readings this is overcome by ,if a magority of texts had a verse or word it was retained, as the kjv was translated.the bible when rightly understood by civilisations has helped to maintain order in society etc, love thy nieghbour etc

I am actually a believer of sorts but I truely believe anyone who takes the bible word for word is slightly unhinged.

The bible has been translated and revised by hundreds of people, some for less than honest purposes...it has been altered to suit the whims of kings and queens and religious zealots and yet people throw out quotations like automatons. Still, if it gets you through the day who am I to judge....
