Has Anyone Here Seen After World? - a animated end of the world survivalist series here on youtube. (The charater's name was Shoemaker)

I have used a Honda Eu 2000 to run a small travel trailer with a small 3000 btu window air conditioner instead of the roof air. Burns about 3 gallons a day. Two parallel Eu2000 generators will run all appliances and the roof air using 5 gallons of gas a day in the hottest temperatures.

I must add:
The smaller the gauge the bigger ( and better ) the extension cord. 8 gauge is what plugs into your dryer. It's thicker and will lose less amps over distance. 10 gauge is slightly smaller, 12 gauge smaller, 14 gauge etc etc. Most people have 16 gauge extension cords in their home. Plug that into your generator and you'll burn your house down.
Just keep everything 12 gauge off the gen and to appliances, and you'll be fine.
Sorry for rambling and being confusing.

addendum:
Go to lowes or 'wherever' and either buy or make your own. Depending on how far away you put your generator...if not using an extenda panel...at least two 10 gauge running into the house. From there, in the house, use no less than 12 gauge to appliances. And NEVER run less than 12 gauge to a window AC.
A good rule of thumb:
When running off of generators...NEVER LESS THAN 12 GAUGE extension cords.
Trust me

I learned a valuable lesson the first time I had to use my generator in an outage.
HAVING THE RIGHT CORDS AND CONNECTIONS !!
No less than 12 gauge will do and 10 gauge, even better, but never, EVER, less than 12 gauge.
Say it together: NO LESS THAN 12 GAUGE.
If you don't, you're extension cords will heat up AND, you lose power and won't be able to run what you want.
NO LESS THAN 12 GAUGE.
I suggest using what is called an extenda panel to run to the house.

I live in an aparmtnet and off the 1st floor so I do not have much room and a large over hang on the balcony. What can be suggested to use in that kind of situation? I am not sure on generator rules here, but I know you can not cook with a grill. Of course in a dire situation i doubt it much matters unless it is extremely dangerous to me or others. Any that does not give off such bad chemicals?

you make good vids "@survivalistboards", in this vid the guy seems very scared

Great Job! A lot of good info packed into a video that wasn't overly long. I'll definitely come back to this video before I buy a generator.

Thanks for the video guys, very helpful

Thank you for the video, Kev! Make sure to tell Bill thanks!!
We just sold our home to get debt-free and are now renting (for less than half of what our mortgage was). Another reason we sold was to free up cash to buy such supplies, including an RV and a spot of land. The RV fridge, stove, furnace and A/C run off propane (large tank off-vehicle and small tank on-vehicle). A generator will have to be propane, since we can bury and otherwise protect propane tanks, but liquid fuel does not keep without management.
Feels like Y2k all over again.

as someone mentioned earlier a 2 stroke aircooled generator would make so much noise in a survival situation that it would attract unwanted attention. I'd like to see a vid on some queiter alternatives ( solar) for shtf scenarios.
