They are stunning birds because the males had to compete and out-shine their rivals to attract a mate.
Over thousands of years, their tails, plumes and displays became more elaborate to show off how virile and providing the male is.
Could not giving access to enough potential mates harm the species?
What plans does the zoo have in place to stop the birds from in-breeding, rendering the flock riddled with illness? I'm not anti-zoo, but the future of their offspring must be considered.
