At the 2008 Tokyo International Fire and Safety Show, Sakura Rubber showed a High Water Pressure Powered Saw which they are developing in conjunction with Sugino Machine Limited and the Tokyo Fire Department. Using gas powered saws in firefighting can be dangerous because of heat and possible gas leaks but by powering the saw with water it is much safer. The water powered saw also cuts down on the amount of sparks produced when cutting. Sakura Rubber is currently researching and developing other similar water powered tools to be used by fire fighters.
