Hi all,
Over the weekend of Thursday June 3rd-Sunday June 6th I was invited to fire on the 2ft gauge Bala Lake Railway which runs for 4.75 miles between Llanuwchllyn and Bala (via Llangower) in Wales. The narrow gauge line runs on the ex-GWR Trackbed of the line which formerly ran between Ruabon and Barmouth via Trevor, Llangollen, Corwen, Bala Junction and Barmouth Junction. When the line closed, the track was lifted and 2ft gauge track was laid between Llanuwchllyn and Bala. On the other hand, standard gauge was reinstated between Llangollen and Carrog (and soon Corwen!), forming the Llangollen Railway.
During my weekend, I was firing everyday, with my driver and friend Eddie. Therefore, I had very little time for filming/photography. However, Eddie's wife Lynn kindly took some video footage of us preparing 0-4-0 'Alice Class' Quarry Hunslet "Holy War" at Llanuwchllyn Shed before running round onto the coaling/watering bay...we then run back onto the train. (Thank you very much for taking the film!).
I have therefore included this short compilation for your interest.
For more info on the line see www.bala-lake-railway.co.uk

Enjoy!
