I first saw Saves the Day back in October of 1998. The current line up had just come together. I had heard a lot of good things and was psyched to see them. After watching them perform, I was not that impressed. The band played a very timid set, but I saw something about to emerge.
It was now the year 2000 and âThrough Being Coolâ had just been released. I was standing on the side of the stage watching Chris and the entire band captivate a sold out show in Philly. The band is playing âAlways Ten Feet Tall.â The song gets to the break. Chris sings the first part and lets the crowd do the rest. The energy of the crowd singing in unison was astounding. This band that I saw play timidly in
98' had grown into a force to be reckoned with.
It is now 2001 and âStay What You Areâ has just come out. Chris chatted with music4autobahns about the switch to Vagrant, how the name Saves the Day came about and dealing with the pressures of being a big band.
well i mean, they sold over 300,000 copies in the US only, and i heard they sold pretty well in Germany,Canada and England, also Japan. So if u put it all together. I'm sure they earned what they got. Which is really a lot of money they get, especially for their first real sold record.
