  • The composition for the South African National Anthem was taken from the Tanzanian National Anthem. The only difference is the language and the lyrics.

  • @pietrov23 No Sir/Ma'am, This is Mungu ibariki Tanzania, but in South Africa its been modified to "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika"

  • Yes it's Swahili. I was born and raised in Tanzania and now live in the United States. The anthem is called " Mungu Ibariki Afrika ( God Bless Africa ).

  • I think it's the melody that was taken from Tanzania. I have been told two other countries besides South Africa also use the same melody. The melody is beautiful so I understand.
