If the term ever applied, living legend Theophilus Brown opens this provocative art show at the McAllen ArtHouse. This show which was curated in part by Matt Gonzalez, Anthony Torres and Esteban Brown is a culmination of works covering over 50 years of works in pencil and pastels. In this presentation they all give varying thoughts and opinions on the mastery of the work of 90 year old Thophilus Brown.
Production Notes: This is the condensed YouTube version of what will be a short film that followed the activities over the weekend. More and more I allow the camera lens to explore the canvas discovering the intricate details of a work. I found in Brown's work that the more simple a grouping of lines in his drawings, the more overtly complex and perplexing was the total work. Cutting down to this short version was agonizing as always not wanting to leave out an insightful comment or perspective.
RIP W.T. Brown
