I too am blown away by the fact that these 2 men would appear together on a kids show right before their rematch of a fight(their first one I mean) that was arguably the most hyped and media scrutinized sporting event of the 20th century.Since I was young at the time I was wondering if anyone who's old enough to remember can tell me if they were making frequent tv appearances together to promote this fight or if this was one of few.

This was taped and aired Sunday, January 27, 1974. I can't believe these two guys appeared on Wonderama the day before their second fight.

I worked on Wonderama - and was there when it was taped. They got along well...and had a great time doing this. It was actually taped on Thursday 1/24/74, and aired Sunday 1/27 - the day before the fight. This was probably the only (or ONE of the only) appearances they made together. Ali was on Wonderama a couple of times...once from Grossingers or the Concord Hotel where he was training - a couple of years later.

How was Ali to work with? He seemed to be having a lot of fun.

Ali (and Frazier too) was great. Real nice guy. I had met him once before. The second Wonderama appearance was done from the hotel where he was training, and we did it from his room...with him lying in bed. It was funny. Bob had to sit on the bed next to him...and standing in the corner of the room was Joe Louis. I have a signed cue card framed from that day...signed to me by both of them - along with a picture. Great keepsake.

Wow. That must have been cool. Whatever happened to Bob McAllister? I used to watch Wonderama every Sunday morning when I was a kid. Loved the aardvark song.

Interesting about WIde World of Sports. They got along fine at Channel 5 - Wonderama, and were there about 2 hours. Bob passed away in 98 of lung cancer in NY. After Wonderama, we did Kids Are People Too for a year or so, and then he taught magic in NYC. Great Guy! One of a kind. A real gem.

Actually, this was taped one day after their famous brawl on the floor at Wide World of Sports(after Ali called him "ignorant".. I'm surprised Frazier agreed to appear in the same room with Ali after that.

Wonderama was a HUGE part of my childhood. I even got to attend a taping. I was so saddened when Bob died...but what is even sadder is how little of his legacy is preserved. I understand most of the Wonderama tapes were taped over by other shows, and I think it's a tragedy. Do you know of any sources where we can buy some of those classic shows--or even just pieces of them?
