Well, the thing is that sustainable houses don't need to be in isolated areas. It's just that these areas get hassled less in the experimental stages of this concept. Naturally, the government doesn't want you to be self sufficient so it's not in their best interests to be handling out zoning for this in urban areas.

take the pricniples to the modern city. urban planners and architects need to study biotecture if they're serious about revitilizing our planet or meeting any sort of "green" standard. Earthships are cuting edge tech.

I think it takes a certain personality type to live in remote places. I LOVE the concept of these houses, but also love going out and socializing regularly. Be great if the world was different and you could have both worlds.
