Faith by works means having hope and then acting upon it. We cannot have faith in Jesus if we do nothing with it- we must have faith by works.

-James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

In Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul is saying we can't get into heaven just because we were good people, it's the grace of God that allows it.

So therefore we show our faith by doing our best to follow the commandments.

Catholics, Mormons, Protestants, Orthodox etc the people in them are always going to make mistakes. There are mormons who have committed atrocities just like their are Catholics who have committed such. But I'm sure you know a sinning human has no bearing on the doctrine being taught by the religion. Just because a person sins doesn't mean truth stops being truth because that person taught it. instead of pointing out each other's flaws we need to be bros and sisters.

@cindybin2001 I understand your point and I don't expect you to drop your religion like that.This isn't about a competition between us, it's about knowing the truth.I just showed you a major contradiction with evidence and you still call me WRONG. I have studied lds doctrine for a long time and have talked to people from the lds church. I know what I'm talking about. Dont make it your priority to defend your religion, but make it your priority to find out the TRUTH.

@chaosrokkfreak I'm a convert to the LDS church and we've hear that all the time where people are trying to disprove the church, the line in Revelation about adding to the book, etc. That means the book of Revelation, not the entire Bible. The Bible wasn't in existence as we know it when Revelation was written, it wasn't even in order, etc. I remember people trying to tell me that years ago when I was investigating the LDS church, but I found out the answers.

Also, I wanted to mention that if you are looking for some answers to your questions, a good book is "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder" by LeGrande Richards. I read that over 30 years ago when I was investigating the Church, and it really does help explain things! I remember reading the Book of Mormon all those years ago, but I still wanted to know the DOCTRINES of the LDS church, what made it different than other churches, etc. I found that book in the local library then, and it was so helpful!
