  • ...you may want to experiment with different types of timpani mallets for this type of piece. Different types of coverings on the sticks can alter the tone of the drum...

  • Thanks for the suggestion, but my band teacher suggested using hard felt mallets for this particular piece, with the dramatic dynamics and all.  Caitlin.

  • it depends on the piece. sometimes you are forced to stand up. plus whether you sit or stand is up to the player. it has nothing to do with technique

  • our school starts timpani in 6th grader

  • im in middle school and im in begining band doin percussion wen can i do tympani im just doin snare,bass,bells ^_^
