@MrWatsurname I read years ago where this song was supposed to have been about Berry Gordie, not Richard Nixon. The song "You ain't done nuthin" is supposed to have been about Nixon.

guess it depends on individual interpretation. growing up black during these times, i considered it to be an admonition of the glorification of pimps and dope dealers that blaxploitation films represented as the "heroes" of the ghettos. i'd suggest that my interpretation still has currency today, as hollywood continues to represent sociopaths and sociopathy as heroic qualities in black folks.

@rulez7000 Reference to Richard Nixon. This album was made around the Watergate scandal. Could also reference how politicians are well, politicians.



I like how the bassist migrates back n forth from the 1st to the 5th positions throughout most of the song (excluding the bridge) creating a knowing tension by not playing the obvious/weighty 4th position until @3:20, he eventually does.. such a breath of fresh air..
