On October 16th Project Revive, Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow, and Carriage House Community Table hosted the most amazing project ever!!! Together we are supporting a project led by the homeless community here in Boulder to raise money for those who are even less fortunate...namely, those who live in the poorest villages of the world. A group of homeless individuals who are part of our Boulder community will lead a cleanup project along Boulder Creek. In addition to serving the city of Boulder with this project, the homeless will also use this event to raise money for Global Hope Network Internationalhttp://globalhopenetwork.org/ . Global Hope partners with the poorest villages in the world to help them become self-sustaining in Water, Food, Education, Income, and Wellness. You can read more about the project at http://globalhopenetwork.org/homeless-serving-hope andhttp://homelessness.change.org/blog/view/an_attitude_of_gratitude_americas_homeless_volunteer_for_africas_needy
Specifically, I am asking my friends to help me support one of the participants in this project...Paula Smith. Paula is part of the homeless community here in Boulder and has created her own personal giving page:http://www.firstgiving.com/anlit However, being homeless, Paula has limited social networking capacity, so I am encouraging people like you (who have extensive social networks) to spread the word and help her to get some hits on her website. So, I encourage each of you to put Paula's picture on your facebook and other social media sites and tell others about this amazing homeless woman, who is raising money for the global poor by serving our community.
To summarize:
1- Paula and others from the homeless community will do the cleanup work along Boulder Creek on October 16th.
2- Leading up to that time, we will use our social networks to "market" their fundraising effort.
3- All of the money raised will go directly to the global villages that GHNI supports.
4- On December 4th, we will be sponsoring a Christmas dinner for the homeless in Boulder and we will recognize Paula's efforts at that time. Let's help Paula raise a dollar amount she will be proud of, and more importantly will help the poorest villages in the world become self-sustaining.
This is GREAT! We are looking for causes like this to bring social media awareness to. Let's see how we can work together on this..
