  • Hiya - I originally wrote the theme tune for the children's tv series back in about 1986, along with the songs and incidental music. The original vocal was recorded by the series author, John Grace, but I recently re-recorded a version of the theme for YouTube with more complete song lyric.

    Hope you'll take a look:

  • Yes!!!!

  • @Owdfolkie Alright thanks for the info!

  • @MrFaulconbridge It's generally accepted that Davey Graham (RIP) invented the tuning in the mid 1960s, and it is popular with Celtic players - also called 'D - Modal' tuning. Other folk 'names' such as Martin Carthy have used it, and I use it myself (though by no means exclusively).

Unlike standard tuning, you can play a melody on the 2nd/3rd strings using the remaining open strings as drones. Try Googling DADGAD, as a fuller explanation is beyond the few characters YouTube allow me to post!

  • @Owdfolkie really? What kind of music made DADGAD popular?

What advantages does it have over standard?

  • The tune that made DADGAD mainstream!!

  • The adventures of umbilical bill !!!

  • wow......brings back my childhood
