  • Just a thought here...track down and purchase every nut, bolt, piece of trim and everything you can find for the car and store the parts so if you decide to restore the car later the parts are found and waiting.

  • @Dangler442 Hello, good idea. Not my car; a half dozen genuine GT40's displayed nearby just lit off for an aural fest - shot the vid 'cause it was a very interesting early GT350 accompanied by some outstanding background music.

  • Friend of mine restored a '65 Shelby. Used all stock parts. Topped it off with one of those "Presidential" paintjobs at Earl Scheib. It looks awesome. One look inside, at the classic dash and the steering wheel, and with the mustang logo all over the place, is heaven. Restore, but only if you can afford to do it right.

  • @kellyadmirer1 Schieb on a Shelby?! Whenever I hear "Presidential", I always seem to recall the name "Lewinsky"...

  • How long ago was that car stolen?

  • @rmtz59 Maybe someone can answer your question.

  • Don't bother with it unless you have a butt load of money to spend.

  • leave it... Its special, and it is worth more just like that. If you were to restore that car, then youd get way less then what you would if it was all original.

  • It should be given to me to decide ;)

  • @4spdBernie I only do if it involve cigar.

  • leave it

  • I'll help everyone out here with the FACTS. This is in fact the very first 65' Shelby GT-350 race car. Serial 5R002. The car is privately owned but is displayed in the Shelby museum in CO. It is well documented as the first and is worth WELL north of a Million dollars. 5S003 (first street model, hence the "S") was actually finished first of all the cars. 5R002 was the first race car, and was finished second. It's not known when the actual finishing order for 5R001 was other than after 02 and 03.

  • restore then put video

  • restore

  • Rear glass doesn't look proper, but perhaps was changed at one time or another. I wonder how it ended up in Mexico? VERY rare car!
