At least one of the best evocations of the west and Texas ever written.

Elmer Bernstein in turn was influenced by his mentor Aaron Copland; Bernstein grew to love the American folk sound Copland has composed that he incorporated it when he composed the score of The Magnificent Seven.

The Best Movi in the word

Vigorous blast of Western theme from the "Comancheros" - from '61 - and Elmer Bernstein went on to be John Wayne's favorite composer, in his last great Westerns - "Sons of Katie Elder", "True Grit" "Big Jake" and his final film - "The Shootist" -- all rousing and masterful.

HI Crintingnut....you know I have often thought that this particular theme was suprisingly short when it's played as part of a collection of movie themes, and it's a pity it wasn't 'padded' out to make it just a little bit longer ,so I share your oppinion on this one, thanks for comment ,lol
