'The Silence of the Lambs' is a thoroughly engrossing read. In fact, I read 280 pages of it in a single day. I can't yet speak for the film, but Harris' original novel is an astonishing experience with many complex, ambiguous characters.
I enjoyed reading the books. They are such a good read all of them. Except the last 56 pages that is the 6th part of the novel. This part was so stupid. After reading so many books, watching so many movies and tv shows and playing video games in which the plot is choice based, i have gotten use to unhappy endings and i was expecting an unhappy ending, not something like this. There must be a better ending to the Hannibal Lector series.
Red Dragon was a Remake of Manhunter. It seemed a bit piotless to me because other than the opening and the ending, it's pretty much identical to Manhunter.
Still worth seeing though if you've never seen the original.
I haven't read any of the Hannibal books. Been on my to-read list with about 9 trillion other books.
I have seen all the movies however, and while Silence of the Lambs is a great film, I've always prefered Manhunter. But I'm a big Michael Mann fanboy, so take that as you will.
thomas harris the one my favorite authors right now, my thesis rising from this novel yey-- *nanana*

"Ignoring the fact that Anthony Hopkins looks older in the prequel..."
I laughed. Nicely done.

Great review! You gotta get back to us when you see the film- see how it holds up to the book.
