The project of the Frankfurt School was to develop a 'critical theory' of contemporary society which would combine philosophy, social theory, economics, and cultural criticism in a new type of interdisciplinary theory. Notable members included Herbert Marcuse, Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno, and Erich Fromm.

These two videos are an introduction, telling the names and what they did very breifly, useful for getting oriented. I read several Wikipedia pages without ever getting this overview and connections. Thanks Eidos.
