I think I mite need to go back to school you have two gyro on that helicopter and no tail rudder. I am missing something here, or you are beaten a dead horse with a stick.
Coaxial helicopters don't need a tail rudder. As a matter of fact, v2.3 hovers very nicely - it's just that the center of gravity is too low, which makes the airframe oscillate when I try to pitch it "off the ball".
However, the walkera main shaft seem way too long... it seem that the long shaft would weaken the rigidity of the upper head structure... if there's a way to shorten that thing, u'd be able to reduce the length of the upper push rods as well, which in term would make the structure stronger...
I think you are right about the shaft length. I've ordered spare inner shaft that I'm going to cut short. I'm also thinking about replacing those rate gyros with head-lock gyros.

very stable, nice job for a first ever flight!
