Not much left of the old Lake View Dragway near Memphis,TN. So sad that another landmark is but gone. Well it's a landmark to some of us.

Like the characters in Vanishing Point and Easy Rider? They never make it to their destination either... just enjoy the films. They're better than a lot of the crap the film industry today throw out

I saw this on tv for first time. I watched the whole thing ONLY because I wanted to know if they actually raced across the country to Washington DC and who would get the pink slips
They never made it to Washington, nobody got pink slips and movie ended in Tennessee! WTF...worst movie I ever saw. I rank this horrible movie right up there with Plan 9 From Outer Space
James Taylor and Dennis Wilson didn't even provide music for the movie! FAIL....this movie SUCKED!!!! Horrible editing

James Taylor and Brian Wilson are stoic like Lone Wolf and Cub. I dug Warren Oates he was good in Dixie Dynamite also.

why would someone remake this? I admit it would be cool and all, however instead of muscle cars it would be imports and this new so called performance cars(ie vettes, camaros, challengers) They are quick and powerful but there is nothing muscle about them.

1970 and this is real life to some people.
Routinely betting $300 on a drag race would`ve amounted to a months wages to a lot of folk.
Warren Oates` character gets a chance look at this life, as do we.
Serious film.
