It took over 29 hrs total FLIGHT time to get to the Raja Ampat islands in East Indonesia from the East coast of the US. We came here to see things underwater that we have not seen before, and we heard it is the most biodiverse marine life area in the world. Although we think the hype about this area is WAY overblown, we did see some things we have not seen before. The colors of the soft coral is out of this world! Mission was accomplished aboard the beautiful Paradise Dancer, a 188ft three masted motor schooner that accommodated 18 divers in air conditioned comfort. Great boat and crew!
for the effort to get there even for me is not worth it( i live in Sydney much closer than you), water visibliity never good in raja ampat area, but the only think i like is plenty small critters and tiny fishes and beautiful corals, but i will not go there again , i prefer Komodo which is as good or better than Raja ampat.
