Allen's Sweets Neon sign -- Melbourne

This is an account of the demise of one of Melbourne's iconic neon signs - The Allen's Sweets neon sign. The sign was atop the Allen's factory on the Riverside Avenue, Melbourne Victoria. The area has since been redeveloped into the Southbank Promenade and both the factory and the sign have been demolished.

I remember seeing this sign in the very early eighties when I'd cross over the Princes Bridge after leaving Flinders Street Station.
