I was (at about 12 weeks into pregnancy)told by the doctor that they were going to arrange a termination as soon as possible. My son is 13 years old now, he does have Downs Syndrome sure but not all of us are rocket scientists. I would have felt the weight of guilt throughout my life if I had agreed to an abortion.

i was 17 wen i was pregnant with my ds son. i couldve taken the easy rd and gotten an abortion but if i did that then i wouldnt of given a perfectly average kid a chance at life. hes 3 now and attends school full time. can sign and speak. he was walkin and hittin all his milestones at the same time other kids his age were. so wat would have been the purpose of killin him while i was pregnant?

@airrocker001 the children that are mainstreamed usually have an aide, it is a win win for that class , inclusion teaches typical children tolerance and understanding, the disabled child usually becomes close to all the other children, yes im sure siblings can find that they are not shown as much attention as a disabled child, the parents must guard against this and coucil the other syblings to make sure they feel they are as much loved as the ds child
