We encountered a youth group with some daring counselors who leaped off the 65ft-high ledge of the falls in near Elk Park, NC. I promised one of the leaders that I would post the video that I captured. The footage is from June 26, 2008.

My aunt's cabin is about 10 minutes from there. We jumped as kids before they put up the fences and all that. I'm glad I did it for the story but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It seems every year there are a few reports of people dying there :(

My brother drowned that year in elk falls. No one how strong the current can be or how deep it is. There is also a cave behind the fall.

@autumnchs It is a dangerous activity. But I've been there several times and seen "jumpers", usually as part of a sanctioned youth group event.
