Going Green is something Agatha Achindu, CEO & Chief Yummy Officer for Yummy Spoonfuls™
knows a lot about. Being a strong believer in the adage we are what we eat. As a child, growing
up in Africa, Europe and the United States, Agatha only ate the freshest organic foods grown in
her familys gardens or purchased fresh from the local markets. At the age of 9, Agatha began
her love for cooking. As she grew older, she soon began preparing healthy and delicious meals for
her family and friends. Agatha quickly became the go to person for wholesome, yummy recipes.
When Agatha married and gave birth to her son, Jared-Zane, she knew he would only eat fresh
and nutritious food. After months of research and evaluating current baby food choices, and
finding only baby foods loaded with: fillers, additives, hormones, sugar and salt, all the things that
babies should not have, Achindu decided she would have no other alternative than to make her
newborn sons baby food daily in her own kitchen using fresh, organic and trusted ingredients.
It was almost immediately after Agatha began creating Jared-Zanes homemade nutritious foods
that her friends started to take notice. Achindu started getting requests for organic carrots,
broccoli, and peas, then eventually friends were asking for anything she was willing to make.
Agatha was being inundated with requests from friends, their babies loved the food and the
moms were thrilled with the fact that the foods were fresh, organic and delicious. One night while
Agatha was preparing Jared-Zanes dinner she started thinking about her friends that were busy
working moms. Her friends had confided to her how they really wanted to feed their babies
healthy, nutritious, and organic foods, but just didnt have the time or the know-how to make it on
their own. That night Yummy Spoonfuls™ was born.
Soon after Yummy Spoonfuls™ humble beginnings, CYO (Chief Yummy Officer), Agatha Achindu
started developing more foods for the company. To date the company has over 24 diverse offerings
in its Creamy Yummy, Mushy Yummy, and Chunky Yummy stages. Yummy Spoonfuls™ offers
traditional foods like puréed carrots, pears, peas, and broccoli. However, the company also
produces unique flavor combinations such as in the Chunky Yummy line with varieties including
organic lentil with carrot porridge, adzuki beans and sweet potato porridge, organic potato
porridge, and many more.
Moms have taken notice and so has the media. In January 2009 Yummy Spoonfuls™ was rated #1
Baby Food: Best Taste, Best Overall, Five Stars! In a Cookie magazine readers panel. Achindu
has been featured in numerous publications and is frequently interviewed and quoted on the
importance of educating moms on developing proper eating habits for their children and changing
how parents feed their children.
