I am a political artist from Russia. I earned my MFA from the St. Petersburg Art and Industry Academy of Stieglitz in 2008, and immigrated to the United States in 2011.

Here is more commentary about this video (including translations):

American-Russian relations haven't always been the warmest, but in recent years America has tried to at least appear on the outside as friendly to Russia while secretly hoping for Vladimir Putin's downfall.

I made these cartoons featuring current American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Vladimir Putin over their recent kerfuffle where Prime Minister Putin lashed out at Clinton for inciting resistance in Russia. Putin's ruling United Russia party recently lost a significant amount of seats in the Duma amidst some accusations of voter fraud.

While I have no doubt isolated cases of ballot box stuffing took place (no different than any American election), Hillary Clinton and the Western media seemed to blow any fraud into a much larger deal than it seems to be. I was skeptical because the people alleged to have committed the fraud lost an unprecedented amount of power in the election.

Although I take Russian media with a grain of salt too, I think the truth has been exposed. The American government is manipulating as much as it can to force a democratic regime change. Vladimir Putin, usually a straight shooter and articulate and sometimes artistic in his prison slang laced analogies hit the nail on the head when he called out Hillary Clinton on her bullshit.

Now I like Hillary Clinton, I would much rather have her and the expertise that is implied to be lent by her masterful (at least in foreign policy) husband needling people than someone tactless like Obama or Bush. However, there is no denying that these protests are at least partially instigated from Western funds.

There just is no excuse for signs in English. This is a sad attempt at creating a positive feedback loop by the Western governments to incite growing opposition.

Vladimir Putin might not be a leader who the West thinks we should have, but despite the desire for change in many areas of Russian government, most Russian people really want him there. We don't really see who could do better. Having change for the sake of change is really dangerous, especially when the changes are potentially polarizing. Just look at Egypt after Mubarak fell.

People have voted for some of this change already in the last, mostly fair, election. The United Russia party is already changing its policy to be more in line with what the people want. That my friends is democracy, even if Russia still has 1001 problems to sort out.

Interesting Facts About This Political Cartoon:

1) Vladimir Putin is saying "Что за хуйня?", which translates roughly to "What the fuck is this shit?" or "What is this shit?". As in he doesn't understand what the protest signs mean.

Russian cursing is quite a level above any English swearing. You can say a lot with few words, or you can say a little with many. We call this foul language "mat", which is also the word for mother.

2) Peregruzka, written on the reset button, doesn't mean reset. This was a SNAFU (American Military Slang) in March of 2009 where Hillary Clinton presented a symbolic "reset" button (reminiscent of an ICBM launch trigger) to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The button which was supposed to symbolize the calming and restoration of good relations with Russia ended in a great embarrassment for Hillary Clinton and the United States. The word Peregruzka (Перегрузка) actually means in Russian to overcharge, overload, overburden, or overwork.

The same ignorance that led to this, probably led to the great idea to make protest signs in English that nobody being protested can read.
