The Gardiner recording was the one that opened my ears to the drama of this opera. Before I have seen it as rather boring....

greatest concert hall hmmm? for some reason this very acoustic sounding recording is a bit raw to the ear and doesnt infuse into the auditory cortext
neuronal pathways the way a more conventionally 'solid' hi-fi recording does.
if mozart 's inner genius were judging the
best available recording studio tech and
the most authentically transmission on
youtube is the ramey-moll rendition. the
'stripped' amadeus is second choice
because its a good recording. losey third-lousy sound yet grand
