  • Was that a different exterior for the Rovers?

  • yes this is what it looked like up until they repainted in 74 and then in 86 there was the fire so the place completly changed.

  • It's not Archie Street as there was no pub, just the corner shop that was shown in the original credits. This is really interesting as the Rovers looks completely different to any depiction of it before or since.

  • Jaysus that muzak in the car can't be in the original can it?

  • this is fabulous thanks for the uploads. i have to ask, was this music played on the episode when they were in the car, or did u add it?

  • The Rovers exterior at 1:26 is, in fact, a real street.

Until 1968, the 'exterior' of Coronation Street was actually filmed indoors on a reduced-size set. The Corrie production team obviously thought that the storyline warranted the use of an outside set, probably because they wanted the Rolls Royce to be seen in all its glory!

From my guess, the street we see at 1:26 may well be Archie Street, the street that was used in the original opening credits.

  • I thought I recognized the voice of one of those guys.
